Answer:

Rs. 270

Explanation:

Given data:

Mean wage of 100 workers = Rs. 284

Mean wage of 70 workers = Rs. 290

To find: mean wage of remaining 30 workers

We know,

Mean = [Sum of wages] / [No. of workers] ….. (i)

So,

Sum of wages of 100 workers = 284 * 100 = 28400

And,

Sum of wages of 70 workers = 70 * 290 = 20300

Sum of wages of remaining 30 workers = 28400 – 20300 = 8100

Thus, from (i), we get

Mean Wage of remaining 30 workers = 8100 / 30 = Rs. 270

Answer:

" The mean wage of the remaining 30 workers is Rs. 270 "

Solution:

Step 1.

The mean wage of 100 workers

= Rs. 284

Then the total wages of 100 workers

= Rs. (100 × 284) = Rs. 28400

Step 2.

The mean wage of 70 workers

= Rs. 290

Then the total wages of 70 workers

= Rs. (70 × 290) = Rs. 20300

Step 3.

We have to find the mean wage of the remaining 30 workers.

Total wages of 30 workers

= total wages of 100 workers - total wages of 70 workers

= Rs. (28400 - 20300) = Rs. 8100

Therefore, the mean wage of the remaining 30 workers

= total wages of the remaining 30 workers / 30

= Rs. ( 8100 / 30) = Rs. 270
