Solution:-

we have,

Length of a text book = l = 22 cm,

Width of a text book = b = 11 cm,

Height of a text book = h = 3 cm,

The text book is covered with a paper only on three faces, that are bottom, top and back.

we have,

Area of the bottom = lxb

=22x11 cm² = 242 cm²

Area of the top = Area of the bottom

= 242 cm²

Area of the back face =lxh

= 22x3 = 66 cm²

Area of the paper required for folding

= 164 cm²

∴ Area of the paper required for one text book

= (242+ 242+66+164)cm² = 714cm²

Hence, Area of paper needed for 85 such text

books' =714x85 cm² =60690 cm².

GIVEN :-

  • Length = 22 cm.
  • Breadth = 11 cm.
  • Height = 3 cm.

TO FIND :-

  • The paper is required to wrap 85 such text books

SOLUTIONS :-

➳ Area of three sides of text book = (lb + lb + lh)

➳ Area of three sides of text book = 22*11 + 22*11 + 22*3

➳ Area of three sides of text book = 242 + 242 + 66

➳ Area of three sides of text book =550 cm².

Now,

➳ Area of brown paper = Area of three sides of Text book + 164 cm²

➳ Area of brown paper = 550 cm² + 164 cm².

➳ Area of brown paper = 714 cm².

Now,

➳ Area of 85 text books = 714*85

➳ Area of 85 text books = 60690 cm².
