Given  Median of 8 numbers is 11.

7 of these numbers are 26, 12, 3, 8, 5, 20, and 14

To Find : eighth number

Solution:

7 numbers are  26, 12, 3, 8, 5, 20, and 14

Eight number = N

Arrange 7 numbers in order

3  ,  5  , 8  ,  12  , 14  ,  20 , 26

Median is 11

and Median is (4th Term + 5th term )/ 2  = 11

4th Term + 5th term  = 22

12 can be 4th or 5th term

Hence 12 + other term  = 22

=> other term  = 10

as there is no such term 10 in given 7 numbers

Hence N = 10

3  ,  5  , 8  , 10 ,   12  , 14  ,  20 , 26

Hence Eight number = 10
