SOLUTION :

The correct option is (b) : 12

First 10 prime numbers are : 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23, 29

Total number of prime numbers = 10

n = 10 (even)  

If n is even then median= ½value of [ (n/2)th + (n/2 +1) th] observations.

Median = ½[(10/2)th + (10/2 + 1) th] observations

Median = ½ [5th + 6th] observations  

Median  = ½ [11 + 13]

= ½ × 24  

= 24/2  

= 12

Median = 12  

Hence, the first 10 prime numbers is 12.

★★ Median of the data depends on the number of observations (n) .

i) If n is odd then median= value of [(n+1)/2]th observation

ii) If n is even then median= ½value of [ (n/2)th + (n/2 +1) th] observations.
