The method employed to separate clay particles from water is filtration. One can use sedimentation method also, where the water is allowed to settle down in a container without any movement, and the clay settles at the bottom.

Then the water is slowly poured out of the container without disturbing the sedimentation. To get pure water, it is best to go in the process of filtration using a filter paper.
