308 is the original number.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the number at 100s place be x

Let the number at ones' place be y

Given that,

x + 0 + y = 11

or

x = 11 - y     ...(i)

Given that,

If the original number on reversing gives a new number that exceeds the original  no. by 495, the equation would be:

100x + a = 100x + y + 495

99y - 99x = 495

⇒ 11y - 11x = 55    ...(ii)

By substituting the value of x from equation (i)

11y - 11(11-y) = 55

11y - 121 + 11y = 55

22y = 176

y = 176/22

y = 8

Therefore,

x = 11 - 8

x = 3.

Hence, the original number is 308.

Verify;

803 - 308 = 495

3 + 0 + 8 = 11.
