the minute hand of a clock is 8 cm long .find the area swept by the minute hand between 8:30 and 9:05a.m.

Given
Length of minute hand =8cm

The angle created by minute hand in (8:30-9:05) 35min =35x6=210°

( the minute hand create the angle of 360 in 60 min so in 1 min=6°)



Area swept=
 \frac{ \alpha }{360}  \times \pi \:  {r}^{2}

=
 \frac{210 \times 22 \times 8 \times 8}{360 \times 7}
=
 \frac{3 \times 22 \times 2 \times 8}{9}
=
 \frac{352}{3}  {cm}^{2}
=117.33cm²
