Class Frequency

0 - 10 7

10 - 20 15

20 - 30 13

30 - 40 17

40 - 50 10

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We know that "The class which is having maximum frequency is called modal class of frequency distribution".

In the given distribution table, the maximum frequency is 17. Therefore, the modal class is 30 - 40.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now,

The sum of frequency n = 62(7 + 15 + 13 + 17 + 10).

Hence, n/2 = 31.

Therefore, the median class is 30 - 40 with a cumulative frequency 17.

Hope this helps!

Hi ,

_________________________
class.I | frequency
________________
0 - 10 | 7
_______________
10 - 20 | 15
______________
20-30 | 13
_______________
30-40 | 17 modal class
_______________
40-50 |
_________________

maximum frequency is 17.

and the class corresponding to this

frequency is 30 - 40 .

So , modal class is 30- 40

Option ( c ) is correct .

ii )
________________________
class .I | freq | L.C.F
_______________________
0 - 10 | 7 | 7
___________________
10 - 20 | 15 | 7 + 15 = 22
___________________
20- 30 | 13 | 22 + 13 = 35 ***
_____________________
30 - 40 | 17 | 35 + 17 = 52
_____________________
40 - 50 | 10 | 52 + 10 = 62
______________________
*********| n = 62 | *****

here , L.C.F = less than cumulative

frequency

n = 62

n/2 = 31

31 lies in the class 20 - 30

So , 20 - 30 is the median class

Therefore ,

option ( c ) is correct

I hope this helps you.
