The molecular formula of three fatty acids A, B and C present in oil or fat is C15H29COOH. Which of these is derived from 1) alkane 2) alkene and 3) alkyne? Which of them becomes rancid earlier? How can we increase its shelf life?

Formula for Alkene is Cn H2n-1 + COOH

Formula for Alkyne is Cn H2n-3 + COOH

(where 'n' is the number of bond, not type of bonding)

Hence, C14 H29 COOH is derived from Alkane

C15 H29 COOH is derived from Alkene

C16 H29 COOH is derived from Alkyne
