The monthly income of peter is Rs 24000 and monthly income of paul is Rs 18000

Solution:

The monthly incomes of peter and paul are in the ratio of 4 : 3

Let the monthly income of peter = 4x

Let the monthly income of paul = 3x

Their expenses are in the ratio of 3 : 2

Let the expense of peter = 3y

Let the expense of paul = 2y

We know that,

Saving = Income - Expense

Each saves rs. 6,000 at the end of the month

Therefore,

4x - 3y = 6000 ------ eqn 1

3x - 2y = 6000 ----- eqn 2

Solve the above two equations,

4x - 3y = 3x - 2y

4x - 3x = 3y - 2y

x = y

Substitute x = y in eqn 1

4x - 3x = 6000

x = 6000

monthly income of peter = 4x = 4(6000) = 24000

monthly income of paul = 3x = 3(6000) = 18000

Thus, monthly income of peter is Rs 24000 and monthly income of paul is Rs 18000
