The monthly income of x and y is Rs.24000 and Rs.18000.

Given:

The monthly income of “x and y” are in the ratio of 4 : 3.

Let their monthly income be 4a and 3a.

Their monthly expenses are in the ratio 3 : 2

Let their monthly expenses of x and y be 3b and 2b.

x and y savings is Rs.6000

To find:

The monthly income of x and y

Solution:

From income and expenses, they can be expressed as

\bold{4 a-3 b=6000 \dots \dots \dots(1)}

\bold{3 a-2 b=6000 \dots \dots \dots(2)}

Multiplying eq(1) by 2 and eq(2) by 3, and subtracting both the equations we get

a = 6000

Hence their income of x is \bold{4 \times 6000=R s .24000} and y is \bold{3 \times 6000=R s .18000}.
