Hey there !

Thanks for the question !

Solution:

Formula to be known : Work Done = Force × Displacement

Let us take the force acting to be denoted as ' F '

Now we know that Displacement is the shortest distance between the initial and final points. But in a closed orbit, the object comes or passes through the initial point twice. Hence the final point also coincides with the initial point. Hence the shortest distance between them would be zero ( 0 ).

Hence displacement will be zero for every orbit around the orbit.

Also we know that anything multiplied by zero will be zero. This is known as the Zero Multiplication Property.

Hence Work Done = Force × Displacement

=> Work Done = F × 0

=> Work Done = 0 J

Hence the work done by moon in revolving around the earth is 0 J.

Hope my answer helped !
