the moon which is about same distance from the sun that the earth is but still why there is no atmosphere on the moon.give reason

the atmosphere keeps the temperature fairly steady during day and night by trapping heat. But,the surface of the moon does not have atmosphere because the gravitational force of earth is more than that of moon and hence it can hold the atmosphere where as the moon can not

Gravitational pull of earth is fairly high than moon to hold up atmosphere.So as there is less gravity in moon there is no atmosphere.
