In the prose,'Virtually True', Michael rides a psycho drive game where his first game was the 'Wild West'. It was from the reference to the past. Where he was a sheriff of a place. Through the statement he wanted to say that the more futuristic the game goes on the better they deal with the past. This shows the narrator the excitement of playing a psycho drive game related to the past..

The line explains that the more developed the virtual games are the more one can understand its past as such games are so advanced that it might happen in the future. The more you play the game the more you will understand its past.
