Answers
Answer:
It is absolutely true, after reading the poem Animals by Walt Whitman, I have been forced to think about animals’ goodness. They are better than man in many ways.
Animals are calm, placid, and self-contained.
Animals don’t sweat, whine, sulk, regret, rue, and don’t waste their time discussing their duties to God. None of them is unhappy. Animals unlike human beings are not hypocrites; they accept the poet as he is and present themselves to the poet as they are. On the other hand human beings are stressed, panicky, disturbed, selfish, greedy, and self-centered.
The poet feels so much comfortable among them. So, he wishes to live with them.
Answer:
Concerning the poem ‘Animals’, the poet Walt Whitman wants to highlight the basic facts that we are lacking day by day in this world of rat-race.
He realizes that humans are greedy and disrespectful while animals stay loyal and humble to the ones they love and know.
He points out that humans run after materialism but animals are content and struggle just for their daily bread.
By the sentence ‘The more I know about humans, the more I love my pet’ the poet comprehends that animals are satisfied and he finds positivity in them over inhumane humans.
Animals still reflect the qualities of respecting others and living peacefully but humans have degraded themselves.
This is the reason, the poet finds his pet more lovable than humans.
