Given :-

  • the MRP of an article is 20000.
  • A dealer buys it a discount of 25 % and sells it a discount of 8% to a customer in another state .
  • GST is charged at 18% .

To Find :-

  • the total amount paid by the customer .
  • The net GST paid by the dealer to the government.

Solution :-

→ Initial marked price of article is = Rs.20000

given that, dealer bought the article at a discount of 25%.

So,

→ Cost price of article = 75% of 20000 = (75 * 20000)/100 = Rs.15,000

Now,

→ GST paid by dealer for purchase = 18% of 15000 = (18 * 15000) / 100 = Rs.2700

Now, we have given that, the dealer sells the article at discount of 8% of marked price in another state.

So,

→ Selling price for customer = 92% of 20000 = (92 * 20000)/100 = Rs.18,400 . (Ans.)

Now,

→ GST charged by dealer on selling of T.V. = 18% of 18400 = (18 * 18400) / 100 = Rs.3312 .

Therefore,

→ GST paid by dealer to the government = GST charged on selling price - GST paid against purchase price = 3312 - 2700 = Rs.612 (Ans.)
