• Initially, it was rejected by Jahangir to Hawkins.

• Later, another British ambassador named Thomas Roe visited the court of Jahangir.

• This time Jahangir accepted the permission and conferred Roe the title 'Khan'.

• Jahangir was the son of the emperor Akbar and Jodhabai.

• His real name was Salim which was named by Akbar as he was devotee of Shaikh Salim, Sufi saint.

• After acquiring the throne, Salim called himself as Jahangir which means "world conqueror".

• Jahangir married Mehr - un - Nisa and gave the title of "Nurjahan".

• Jahangir executed the fifth Sikh Guru, Guru Arjun Dev.
