The acids in our mouth come form the sugary food that we eat, the sugary food supports the growth of various acid producing bacteria, that produce acid and make our mouth acidic. A regular, normal toothpaste has a "pH value" of near about 8, that highlights the nature of the toothpaste to be basic, or weakly alkaline.
