Hey Dear,,, Here is Your Answer =)
Biodiversity will be affected on a large scale if there is uncontrolled exploitation of water and forest resources. Animals will lose their natural habitat and climatic changes will occur after a few years. So use of natural resources of the mountains should be done with care, so that the ecology is not seriously disturbed. Only a very limited amount of water and forest reserves should be used. Trees can be freshly planted to replace the forests being exploited.
Hope it Helps You Out =)Thanks (^^)

Yes , the northern mountains are rich source of forest and water resources in India. All the major rivers like Ganga, Yamuna originate from northern mountains. Their origin points are glaciers namely Gangotri and Yamunotri respectively. The negative effects of uncontrolled exploitation of these resources of Himalyas by man are as following:
Points:
- States like Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are known for dense forests and greenery.
- These dense forests are rich source of medical trees, herbs, and fruits like peach, apple, walnut etc.
- These forests have been the only sources of high quality timber since 18th century.
- But over exploitation have destroyed it all, man have always been dependent on nature but never have any thoughts of protecting it or saving it for future.
- Uncontrolled exploitation has resulted in global warming, increase water level due to glacier melting, extinction of wild animals and birds, natural calamities like cloud burst, land slides, floods etc.
- It can be stopped by planting new trees, taking care of mother nature, making deforestation a punishable offense, and making people aware about the consequences of destruction of natural resources.
