The nucleus of an atom of Bi 210/(atomic number = 83) emits a B-particle and becomes a polonium nuclide. Write as equation for the nuclear change described.

● Answer-
210/83 Bi + β-particle → 210/84 Po

● Explanation-
When a β-particle is released atomic number of the radioactive reactant increases to give a radioactive product.

Here,
Z(Po) = Z(Bi) - 1 = 84 - 1 = 3
A(Po) = A(Bi) = 210

Therefore the reaction will be
210/83 Bi + β-particle → 210/84 Po
