The nucleus has charge of 16 units

i.e. protons will be 16

And no of proton and electron are same in any atom,

There is -2 charge on ion i.e. 2 more electrons,

So the no. of electrons present in the ion will be 16 + 2 i.e. 18

The atomic no. is 16, so it is sulfur having symbol 'S'.
