Total strength of school is 1875

let , take no.of girls & boys be 8x & 7x
then 8x=1000(total strength of girls)
then x=1000/8
its 1st eq.
then no. of boys be 7x
7 *1000/8. (from 1st eq.)
=875
then total strengh is 1000+875=1875
