Let the no. of boys be 5x and no. of girls be 4x

given 5x - 4x= 9

x=9

therefore no. of boys = 9X5 = 45

The number of boys will be 45.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Number of boys to girls in ratio= 5:4

number of boys is 9 more than the number of girls

To find:

the number of boys

Solution:

The ratio of boys and girls is 5:4

Let's take m as the common multiple

Now, the number of boys is 5m & the number of girls is 4m

According to the given condition,

The number of boys is 9 more than the number of girls

5m= 9+4m

5m-4m=9

m=9

Putting the value of m to find the number of boys

Number of boys = 5m = 5X9

∴ Number of boys= 45

Thus, the number of boys in the class is 45.
