let no. of girls= x
then no. of boys= x+8
ratio=7/5
x+8/x=7/5
5(x+8)=7x
5x+40=7x
2x=40
x=20
no. of girls=20
no. of boys=20+8=28
total strenght=48

Let the number of girls be x
the number of boys = x+8
According to question,
x+8/x =7/5
=> 5(x+8) = 7x
=> 7x = 5x + 40
=> 2x = 40
=> x = 20
Therefore x= 20
Number of the girls is 20
Number of the boys is 28
