the number of boys and girls in a class is in the ratio7:5.the number of boys is 8 more than the number of girls.what is the total class strength

Let the number of boys be B

Let the number of girls be G

B:G = 7:5

5B = 7G

The question says B = G + 8 , therefore :

5(G+8) = 7G

5G + 40 = 7G

G = 20 , B = 28

Total Strength = B+G = 48
