I hope the compound is CaCl2. In 1 mole CaCl2, 2 mole chloride ion is present. Here, 1 mole chloride ion is present, therefore, the anhydrous sample is just 0.5 mole. Molar mass of CaCl2=40+35.5*2=40+71=111g. Therefore, 0.5 mole weight=55.5g
