The number of chromosomes is different in gamets and zygote,why?

Answer:gametes - n

Zygote - 2n

Explanation:

Gametes are produced by meiosis which is reductional division (means reduces to half) .

Whereas zygote is formed by fusion of two gametes due to which it is 2n .

Male gamete(n) + female gamete(n) = zygote (2n)
