Answer

State A has 44 countries

State A has 44 countriesState B has 46 countries

Explaination

let the two consecutive numbers of countries in state A and state B be 2x and 2x + 2 respectively

(Since, 2x and 2x + 2 are the multiples of 2..So they are even numbers)

According to the question:

Sum of A and B = 90

2x + 2x + 2 = 90

=> 4x + 2 = 90

=> 4x = 88

=> x = 88/4

=> x = 22

So, The number of counties in state A =>

2x = 2 × 22 = 44

The number of counties in state B =>

2x + 2 = 2× 22 + 2 = 46
