The number of dry cells of emf 1.5v and internal resistance 0.5 ohm required is equal to 10.

Let the number of dry cells required be equal to n.

The net emf of the circuit = E = 1.5n V

The equivalent resistance of the circuit = R = (20 + 0.5n) ohm

Given that the curved flowing through the circuit = I = 0.6 A

I = E/R

=> 0.6 = 1.5n / 20+0.5n

=> 12 + 0.3n = 1.5n

=> 12 = 1.2n

=> n = 10

The number of dry cells required in the circuit = 10
