The number of tyres is more for goods vehicles. Why?

So, the load carrying heavy vehicles have large number of wheels so that the pressure on the road is reduced due to larger contact area. Also, using large number of wheels ensures that the force due to the load is shared among the tyres and no single tyre is under stress.

Pressure is inversely proportional to the Area of Force applied.

The weight of the vehicle is going to be constant, hence it there are less tyre than the force applied by the vehicle's weight is going to be more as less number of tyres results a reduction in the contract area.

But, if there are more tyres the same weight is going to be distributed among larger contact area, hence the pressure applied on each tyre will be less.

Therefore, the number of tyres is more of good for goods vehicles.
