Given  : The numbers 1 through 10 are put in one bag, and the numbers 5 through 14 are put in another bag.

you pick one number from each bag

To Find : the probability of getting the same number

Solution:

The numbers 1 through 10  can be selected in 10 ways

numbers 5 through 14  can be selected in 10 ways

Total ways =   10 * 10 = 100

get the same number   = { (5 ,5) , (6 , 6) , (7 , 7) , ( 8 , 8) , ( 9 , 9) , (10 , 10) }

= 6 ways

Probability of getting the same number =  6 /100

= 3/50

= 0.06
