Answer -:

  • 25% of the day is spent online everyday by Shekhar.

Given -:

  • No. of hours spent online = 6 hours.

To find -:

  • The percent of the day he spends online.

Step-by-step explanation -:

A day has 24 hours.

Out of it, Shekhar spends 6 hours online.

Thus, out of 24 hours, Shekhar spends 6 hours online.

The fraction of hours spent online by him = \dfrac{6}{24}

Now to find the percent of the day he spends online, we need to express 6 hours as a percentage of 24 hours.

The steps to do so are given below -:

1) There are two ways. You can either calculate the fraction's value or solve it directly. I am going to do it directly.

2) Multiply it by 100.

3) Add the % sign to it.

Method 1 -:

For your convenience, I am going to show both the methods.

Now lets express 6 hours as a percentage of 24 hours.

We have -:

\dfrac{6}{24} \times 100

I am not calculating the fraction's value in this method, I will do it directly. The answer will be same, no matter which method you use.

Now reduce the numbers. 6 and 24 are both divisible by 6, so cut them.

We are left with -:

\dfrac{1}{4} \times 100

Multiply them. We get -:

\dfrac{100}{4}

100 is divisible by 4. Now to get the final result, we will divide 100 by 4.

Finally we get 25. Now add the % sign to it and make it 25%.

Thus, Shekhar spends 25% of the day online.

Method 2 -:

In this method, I am going to find the value of the fraction in decimals.

Fraction = \dfrac{6}{24}

We know that 6/24 means 6 ÷ 24. We get 0.25 as the result.

Now, following the second step, we will multiply the result (0.25) by 100. Multiplying, we get 25.

Now, lets add the % sign in it. Finally we get the result 25%.

In both the methods, the answer is same.

So, Shekhar spends 25% of the day online.
