Answer:

.•. 11 is the answer for your question

Step-by-step explanation:

x-2-3 = 3/4

x-3

x-5=3/4(x-3)

x-5=3x/4-9/4

x-5=3x-9

4

4x-20=3x-9

4x-3x=-9+20

1x=11

Given:-

  • The numerator of a fraction is 2 less than its denomination.
  • If 3 is subtracted from numerator and from denomination the new fraction obtained is 3/4

To find:-

  • Find the fraction.?

Solutions:-

  • Let the numerator of the fraction be x and the denominator be y.

  • Fraction = x/y

The numerator of a fraction is 2 less than its denomination.

=> x = y - 2 .....(i).

If 3 is subtracted from numerator and from denomination the new fraction obtained is 3/4

=> x - 3/y - 3 = 3/4

Cross multiplication

=> 4(x + 3) = 3(y - 3)

=> 4x - 12 = 3y - 9

=> 4x - 3y = -9 + 12

=> 4x - 3y = 3 ........(ii).

Putting the value of the x from Eq (i). In Eq (ii).

=> 4x - 3y = 3

=> 4(y - 2) - 3y = 3

=> 4y - 8 - 3y = 3

=> y - 8 = 3

=> y = 3 + 8

=> y = 11

Putting the value of y in Eq. (i).

=> x = y - 2

=> x = 11 - 2

=> x = 9

So,

  • Numerator => x = 9
  • Denominator => y = 11
  • Fraction => x/y = 9/11

Hence, the fraction formed is 9/11.
