Answer:

5/7

Step-by-step explanation:

let the denominator be d and numerator be d-2

ATQ,

{(d-2)-2}/{(d)+2} = 1/3

(d-4)/(d+2) = 1/3

3d -12 = d+2

3d-d = 2+12

2d = 14

d = 14/2 = 7

so (d-2)/d = 5/7

Answer:

let the numerator be x and denominator be y

x = y - 2

if

 \frac{x - 2}{y + 2}  =  \frac{1}{3}

put x = y-2 in above equation

 \frac{y - 2 - 2}{y + 2}  =  \frac{1}{3}  \\ 3y - 12 = y + 2 \\  2y \: = 14 \\ y = 7

insert y = 7 in x= y-2

this will give u x = 5

thus the required fraction is 5/7..

hope this will help you
