let denominator is X, then numerator will be (X-2)
so fraction is (X-2)/X
when 1 is added to denominator = (X+1)
then fraction = (X-2)/(X+1) and this is equal to 1/2
(X-2)/(X+1)= 1/2
2X-4 = X+1
X=5
so fraction is 3/5
