GIVEN : -

The numerator of a fraction is 2 less than the denominator.

If one is added to its denominator it becomes 1/2 .

TO FIND :-

The Fraction

SOLUTION :-

Let the numerator be x.

Then the fraction is -

 \frac{x}{x + 2}

Now according to the Question ,

 \frac{x}{x + 2 + 1}  =  \frac{1}{2}  \\  \\  \\  \implies  \frac{x}{x + 3}  =  \frac{1}{2}  \\  \\  \\  \implies 2x = x + 3 \\  \\  \\  \implies \boxed{ x = 3}

Therefore the Fraction is 3/5 (Ans)

VERIFICATION :-

LHS

=3/5

=3/(5+1)

= 3/6

= 1/2

= RHS

Given,

1 is added to its denominator, it becomes 1/2.

let,Numerator be X.

i.e,

x / x + 2.

X / X + 2 + 1 = 1/2

X / X + 3 = 1/2

[ cross multiplication]

2X = X + 3

=》 X = 3

Numerator = 3

Denominator = 5.
