let the denominator =x
:numerator =x-4
now after adding 2 in denominator
denominator=x+2
so according to ques.
x-4/x+2=1/3
cross multiply
3x-12=x+2
2x=14
x=7
hence fraction is
7-4/7
3/7

Hi ,
Let the denominator = x
Numerator = x - 4
Fraction = ( x - 4 )/x
According to the problem given ,
( x - 4 )/( x + 2 ) = 1/3
3(x - 4 ) = 1 ( x + 2 )
3x - 12 = x + 2
3x - x = 2 + 12
2x = 14
x = 14/2
x = 7
Therefore ,
Required fraction = ( x - 4 )/x
= ( 7 - 4 )/7
= 3/7
I hope this helps you.

Let the denominator = x

According to the problem given ,
( x - 4 )/( x + 2 ) = 1/3
3(x - 4 ) = 1 ( x + 2 )
3x - 12 = x + 2
3x - x = 2 + 12
2x = 14
x = 14/2
x = 7
Therefore ,
Required fraction = ( x - 4 )/x
= ( 7 - 4 )/7
= 3/7
I hope this helps you.
