Let numerator be x and denominator be y
x = y - 4
x-y = -4 ------ Eq. (1)
8(x-2) = y + 1
8x - 16 = y + 1
8x - y = 17 ------- Eq. (2)
From (1) and (2)
x - y = -4
8x - y = 17
-7x = -21
x = 3
x - y = -4
3 - y = -4
y = 3 + 4 = 7

x = 3
y = 7
hope this will help.

Let the denominator of fraction be x,
 then the numerator of fraction will be x–4.
 According to the question:- x + 1 = 8(x – 4 – 2)
⇒ x + 1 = 8x – 48
⇒ 8x – x = 1 + 48
 ⇒ 7x = 49
=> x = 7
Hence, fraction is (7- 4)/7
 = 3/7
