Numerator will be = x-4
Now,
The fraction is =
$\frac{x - 4}{x}$
Now as per question
$\frac{x - 4 + 1}{x + 1} = \frac{1}{2} \\ or \frac{x - 3}{x + 1} = \frac{1}{2}$
Now, 2(x-3) = x+1
2x-6 = x+1
X= 7

Now, fraction = x - 4 /x
=7-4/7 = 3/7
