If the denominator is X, then numerator =X-4.
According to the question,
(X -4 +1/ X+1 =1/2.
X - 3 /X +1 =1/2X

Let the denominator = x
Numerator will be = x-4
Now,
The fraction is =
 \frac{x - 4}{x}
Now as per question
 \frac{x - 4 + 1}{x + 1}  =  \frac{1}{2}  \\ or \frac{x - 3}{x + 1}  =  \frac{1}{2}
Now, 2(x-3) = x+1
2x-6 = x+1
X= 7

Now, fraction = x - 4 /x
=7-4/7 = 3/7

Hope this will be helping you
