guys this is the ans..

let the denominator be x..

so, numerator will be= x-4

According to the given condition..

adding 1 to both numerator n denominator..

denominator.= x+1

numerator. = x-4+1

= (x-3)

now, when 1 is added to both numerator n denominator then fraction is 1/2.

N/D. = 1/2

x-3/x+1. =. 1/2

now, do cross multiplication..

so,

2(x-3). =. 1(x+1)

2x -6 =. 1x+1

2x-6 =. 1x+1

2x +1x = 1+6

3x. = 7

x. = 7/3

therefore, the required fraction is 7/3.

thanks..
