The numerator of a fraction is 4 less than the denominator if the numerator is decreased by 2 and denominator is increased by 1, then the denominator is 8times the numerator. find the fraction.

Let denominator be x,

(x-4)/x
____

If

(x-4-2)/(x+1)
____

Then,

x+1 =8(x-4-2)

x +1=8(x-6)

x +1 =8x - 48

1+48=8x -x

49=7x

49/7 =x

7=x
