Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the numerator= X

Denominator = y

According.to question ...

X-4/y=1/1

X-4=y

X-2y=4.....(1)

X+1/y+1=1/2

2x+2=y+1

2x-y=-1.....(2)

By equation 1 and 2...

2x-y=-1

x-y=4 (by elimination method)

X=5 and Y=1...

Thanks...

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :-

The numerator of a fraction is four less than its denominator.

If 1 is added to both numerator and denominator fraction becomes half.

To Find :-

The Fraction

Solution :-

Let the numerator of a fraction be x .

And the denominator of a fraction be y .

According to the Question,

1st Equation

x =  y – 4   …….(i)

2nd Equation

⇒ (x + 1)/(y + 1) = 1/2

⇒ 2(x + 1) = y + 1 ⇒ 2x + 2 = y + 1

⇒ 2x – y = -1

Substituting the eq. (i) and (ii) , we get

⇒  2(y – 4) – y = -1

⇒  2y – 8 – y = -1

⇒  y = -1 + 8

y = 7

Puttingy value in Eq (i), we get

⇒  x =  y – 4

⇒ x = 7 – 4

⇒  x = 3

The numerator of a fraction is 3

The denominator of a fraction is 7

Hence, the fraction is 3/7.
