Answer:
The use of high performance concretes is closely related to the use of superplasticisers. Now-a-days, it is usually necessary to select a cementitious material combined with one or more chemical admixtures. The Marsh cone test appears to be a quick and easy procedure for the optimisation of this system. This paper presents the results of a study on cement pastes wherein different types of superplasticisers were combined with Portland cements of different fineness, blended cements with calcareous filler, and cements mixed with natural pozzolans or silica fumes. Sulphonated naphthalene, sulphonated melamine and a vinyl copolymer based superplasticisers and a conventional water-reducing admixture were used.
