Given : The organizer of an essay competition decide that a winner in the competition get a prize of ₹100 and a participant who does not win gets a prize of ₹25. The total prize money distributed is ₹3000.

To Find : Find the number of winners ?

______________

Solution : Let the number of winner be x.

  • The number of non-winner participants be 63 - x
  • Total money given to the winner be x × 100 = 100x
  • Total money given to non-winner participants be 25 × 63 -x

~

\underline{\frak{\pmb{According~ to ~the ~given~ question~:}}}

~

\qquad{\sf:\implies{100x ~+ ~25 ~\times~ (63~ - ~x)~= ~3000}}

\qquad{\sf:\implies{100x ~+ ~1575 ~- ~25x~= ~3000}}

\qquad{\sf:\implies{75x~= ~3000~ - ~1575}}

\qquad{\sf:\implies{75x~= ~1425}}

\qquad{\sf:\implies{\cancel\dfrac{1425}{75}}}

\qquad{:\implies{\underline{\boxed{\pmb{\frak{\pink{x~=~19 }}}}}}}

~

Hence,

  • The number of winner is 19.
