The correct answer is - Chess.
Chaturanga is a Sanskrit word which means ‘quadripartite’. It stands for the four Angas which are divided into 4 parts. They symbolize the four different branches of an army, like how it was during the olden times in the real Indian armies. Accordingly, these pieces were called as the elephants, the chariots, the horses and the foot soldiers.
Chaturanga was different from the modern day chess and it depended on how well the players (2,3, or 4) rolled the dice. It was more like a simulation of the Indian military battlefield in a game.
The Persians learned this game in 600 AD and called it Shatranj. The word 'check-mate' was translated from the Persian word 'Shah-Mat' or from the Sanskrit word 'Kshatra-Mruta', which means that ‘The King is Dead'.
