The overbridge at a road junction rises 1.5 m every 40 m on the horizontal level. The height of the overbridge at the highest level is 9 m. It is at the highest level for 40 m. Then the bridge slopes down at the same rate. What is the length of the horizontal road on the ground covered by the bridge from the beginning to the end?

Highest hight of bridge = 9m
let the length of bridge be X
according to question
since the change in hight is 6 times the the highest hight so horizontal hight = 6*40= 240m
using paythegors theorem
240^2 - 9^2 = side of road
side of road = 239.83
so total length = 2*239.83=478.6 6

ANSWER
Highest height of the bridge = 9m.
Let us take the length be x.
A/Q,
6 × Highest height = Change in height.
So, Horizontal height = 6*40 = 240m.
Now Using Pythagoras theorem, we get
Side of road^2 = 240^2 - 9^2
= 239.83
Therefore, total length = 2 × 239.83
= 478.66 m.
