"The pace for living" was written by R.C.Hutchinson. In 1975, his novel Rising was short-listed for the “Booker Prize”.

He was born in ‘Finchley’, Middlesex and he did his education in “Monkton Combe School”. He completed BA at “Oriel College, Oxford in 1927” and he joined in “Colman's in Norwich” for studying advertising course.

This story reveals the agony of contemporary man. The quick movements of men, things, and objects are pictured clearly in the story. These quick movements hurt the conventional rhythm on ‘men’, ‘ladies’, and ‘youngsters’.
