Given : The pair of equations x=2 and  y+7=0

To Find :  Correct option:

a) one solution

b) two solutions

c) infinitely many solutions

d) no solutions

Solution:

pair of equations x =2 and  y  + 7 = 0

x =2  can be written as

x  + 0.y  = 2   ... Eq1

y  + 7 = 0  can be written as

0.x  + y  = -7    Eq2

0.Eq1   + Eq2

=> 0 + 0  + 0  + y  = 0 - 7

=> y = - 7

0 * Eq2 + Eq1

=> 0 + 0 + x + 0  = 0  + 2

=> x = 2

Hence x = 2 and  y = -7 is the solution

There is only one solution x = 2 and y = - 7

Correct option is  option a)  One Solution
