The parabola of a quadratic equations is symmetric with Y-axis.

1. So, its vertex will be on Y-axis.

2. Since it passes through ( 0, 0 )

, it means that its vertex is on origin.

3. Given, parabola also passes through ( 2, 4 ). It means parabola is in upward direction.

4. General formula for parabola in upward direction is given as :

x^2 = 4ay ...(1)

5. Substituting point ( 2 , 4 ) in (1)

We get, a = 1/4

6. Hence, equation of parabola is

x^2 = y
