Answer :-

  • The length of two parallel sides of trapezium are 3684.3m and 6140.5m.

Step-by-step explanation :-

To Find :-

  • The length of parallel sides of trapezium

Solution :-

Given that,

  • The parallel sides of a trapezium are in the ratio 3:5
  • Height of trapezium = 16cm
  • Area of trapezium = 786cm²

Converting 16cm to m,

=> ( 16 ÷ 100 ) m

=> 0.16m

Assumption: Let us assume the parallel sides of trapezium which are in ratio as 3x and 5x.

As we know that,

Area of trapezium = 1/2 × ( a + b ) × h,

Where,

  • a and b are the two parallel sides of trapezium
  • h is the height of trapezium.

=> 1/2 × ( a + b ) × h = 786

=> 1/2 × ( 3x + 5x ) × 0.16 = 786

=> 1/2 × 8x × 0.16 = 786

Dividing 16 and 2 with 2

=> 1 × 8x × 0.08 = 786

=> 8x × 0.08 = 786

=> 8x = 786/0.08

=> 8x = 9825

=> x = 9825/8

=> x = 1228.1

  • The value of x is 1228.1.

Now, the parallel sides of trapezium are :-

The side which we assumed as 3x,

=> 3x

=> 3*1228.1

=> 3684.3

The side which we assumed as 5x,

=> 5x

=> 5*1228.1

=> 6140.5

Hence,

  • The length of two parallel sides of trapezium are 3684.3m and 6140.5m.
